The Project

According to the Rutgers University and Rutgers-New Brunswick Strategic Plans, Rutgers is looking to create living laboratories on their campuses. Though a few proposals have been made, an overall living lab plan has yet to be developed by the university. Several past Rutgers students in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences have written undergraduate theses on different aspects of campus sustainability and on living labs for campus. These reports and proposals represent a jumping point for developing a living laboratory program and for improving campus for the better.

This living laboratory project is currently a part of the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS), with references to other schools at the University. This website aims to highlight some of the existing living laboratories on campus, and provide a starting point for engaging the campus community about living labs. A framework and the support of the Rutgers community are key for living labs to florish on campus.
